Welcome to my counseling practice! I firmly believe the role of a therapist is to serve as a catalyst for change. Therefore, I promise to provide a safe, nurturing, non-judgmental and supportive environment as I assist you on the road of becoming your best self. Let’s work together so that you can feel empowered, inspired, motivated and transformed from the inside out! Together we will assess your readiness for change as well as identify barriers that have hindered your ability to change. We will discuss and establish goals in which you will achieve and do active work in our sessions for you to reach your fullest potential.
Therapeutic Practices that I provide are:
• Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (emphasis on our changing thoughts and behaviors)
• Holistic Psychotherapy (emphasis on the mind, body and spirit working together)
• Play Therapy (generally done with youth ages 5-9 years of age)
• Art Therapy (using art forms as a therapeutic tool)
• Evidence Based Practices to support girl rated issues (i.e. bullying, relational aggression, cutting, suicidal thoughts, low-self esteem, etc.)
What is Counseling ?
Counseling is much different from visiting a medical doctor where prescribed medicine often helps with your physical problem. It is also very different than coaching where we primarily focus on future goals and aspirations. Counseling requires very active effort on your part, both during your sessions and at home. Counseling has both benefits and risks. Risks sometimes include experiencing uncomfortable feelings. Counseling often requires discussing unpleasant aspects of past events in your life.
Although uncomfortable feelings and thoughts may arise during counseling sessions, Counseling has been shown to increase the mental health, stability and balance in an individual’s life. Many individuals who have received counseling feel liberated and in control of their current lives by facing issues their past. Like coaching, the benefits of counseling build over time.
In order to make this experience as valuable as possible, I have created a minimum counseling period of 4 sessions to all of my clients. I recommend six to twelve sessions to establish longer-term support as you make major transitions and changes in your personal and life. After the initial period, you may extend as long and as often as you like. Your counseling timeslot is a “reservation” on my calendar, a committed time period that I dedicate to you and your goals.
